The Island
Paros has a way of getting under your skin. Pete has lived here for over 20 years and still finds new corners to love. This is his personal guide to making the most of the island — from the unmissable to the quietly overlooked.
Villages & Destinations
The island's capital and main ferry port. Home to larger supermarkets, banks, pharmacies, medical services and a wide range of restaurants and cafés.
Wander through the old town, visit the historic Church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani — one of the most important early Christian monuments in Greece — or enjoy a drink along the seafront promenade.
One of the most picturesque villages in the Cyclades, built around a traditional fishing harbour. Naoussa has become something of a super-stylish destination — excellent restaurants, cocktail bars, boutiques, art galleries and lively nightlife, often at a higher price.
During summer evenings the harbour comes alive with people dining along the waterfront and exploring the winding streets.
A small neighbouring island just a short ferry ride from Pounta. Known for its relaxed atmosphere, beautiful beaches, whitewashed streets, boutique shops and waterfront cafés. The crossing takes only a few minutes and makes for an excellent day trip.
Don't miss a wander through Antiparos Town, a swim at Psaraliki Beach, or sunset drinks along the harbour.
One of Paros' most popular beaches. Known for its crystal-clear water, beach clubs, watersports and relaxed atmosphere. The surrounding area also offers a selection of higher-end boutiques, fashion stores, art galleries and lifestyle shops.
Your nearest village and one of the most charming on the island. Fishmonger, butcher, pharmacy, mini market, ice cream, cafés, tavernas and bars — plus a charming fishing harbour that's perfect for an evening stroll.
The Kritikos supermarket and excellent bakery are just on the outskirts of Alyki — 5 minutes by car.
Many boat excursions depart from Alyki, Piso Livadi and Naoussa, offering trips to the Blue Lagoon, Despotiko, Antiparos sea caves, secluded beaches and neighbouring islands.

Sun & Sea
Paros is not short of great beaches. Here are Pete's picks for the south of the island — all within easy reach of Milos House.
Largely unspoilt with a naturist section. No facilities. Turn right at the bakery and continue about a mile and a half until you see a stone wall on the left.

One evening out: Wander the harbour of Paroikia at sunset, then dinner along the promenade.
Slower pace: Take the ferry from Pounta to Antiparos and spend the day at the beaches, cafés and backstreets.
Local favourite: Walk down to Alyki harbour at dusk, then dinner at Mouragio right on the waterfront — five minutes from the house.
Day trip: Head north to Naoussa for lunch, then Santa Maria Beach in the afternoon.
Not to miss: A boat trip to the Antiparos sea caves is one of the great Cycladic experiences — ask Pete for the best operators.
